Lease Extension Agreement:

What Is A Lease Extension Agreement?

If you need a lease extension agreement, then that means you already have a lease between yourself and the tenant regarding a rental property.

If you and the tenant come to the decision that they will stay in the property for longer than the original lease states, you do not need to write up a whole new lease agreement. Of course, you do need some form of documentation indicating that the lease is being extended.

That document is a Lease Extension Agreement where you are indicating that the data in the original lease and the agreed terms all remain the same, however the one difference is that the lease end date is being extended.

Filling in our Lease Extension agreement is very simple. You first of all put in the landlord and tenant names and addresses. We cover two landlords and up to four tenants in our document.

Next you need to specify the property in question that the lease is regarding. Fill in the type of property, as well as the address and location of the premises.

Then you need to mention the existing lease. If you are attaching a copy of the original lease then that needs to be noted on the Lease Extension Agreement, as well as the signature date of the original lease agreement, and then when the lease was initially agreed to both start and end.

You must then note the details of this current lease extension – when the new Agreement begins, as well as when the new Agreement shall end.

If there are any changes to the rent details, you need to enter that in the agreement. Our form creator allows you to do that and is entirely optional. If you need to change the rent details our form allows you to add in the new amount, as well as when it is due and when it is paid.

If there is a prorated payment our form also allows you to add in that, listing the amount of the payment and the date.

We then allow you full customization of the form too. If you need to add anything else you just click the additional details option and you can add whatever you need.

The process of creating your lease extension agreement at SimpleForms.org is extremely easy, and you should have no problem creating it. Please note as per usual, our lease extension agreement is state specific.
